February 9, 2008 The two newest probationary members of Local 3726 are Patrick Hughes and Michael Hackler. Hughes will be assigned to B shift and Hackler to C shift. Both come to EFPF with a background in seasonal wildland firefighting. Hackler and Hughes both started as volunteers with East Fork Fire and Paramedics and both attended paramedic school before become career firefighters.

February 6, 2008 Congratulations to Dave Fogerson who has been recently promoted to B shift Battalion Chief. Battalion Chief Fogerson was promoted from his position as A shift training Capt. His official first day will be Feb 9th. BC Fogerson has been a training\safety Capt for East Fork Fire since 2002.

Currently an in house Battalion Chief interest list is being put together for the B shift Chiefs position. The interest list will close in Mid January and testing should end in early Feb. With in house promotions coming soon, it will be likely that an open position will be coming soon. Keep on eye on our job openings page or join our contact list.

Our north county station 12, is currently under construction with a completion date at the end of this year. It is located on the East side on 395 on N. Sunridge Dr. Please visit our photo gallery for pictures of the new station.

Battalion Chief Bob Barrett has announced his retirement. Chief Barrett will be retiring at the end of Oct. 2007 after many years of service with EFFPD. During the time Chief Barrett was a Capt. with our organization, local 3726 was founded and he became the first Vice President.

Two positions are scheduled to be filled in Jan 08. These positions will place a three man crew at our most southern station, bringing the minimum staffing of this station to a Captain, Firefighter\Paramedic and a Firefighter\EMT-I.

Deputy Chief Dave Drew has announced his retirement after more the 30 years in the fire service. Chief Drew scheduled his last days here at EFFPD for May 2008. He began his career with the Nevada Division of Forestry, and then moved to the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District. He has been the Deputy Fire Chief/Training with the East Fork Fire and Paramedic Districts since 1989. Chief Drew received an Associate of Science degree in Fire Science from the Truckee Meadows Community College in 1985, and a Bachelor of Public Administration from the University of San Francisco in 1988. He is also a graduate of the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program. He has worked with the Nevada State Firefighters' Association (NSFA) on several training matters. With a coalition of several members of Nevada's Fire Service, Dave was instrumental in developing and supporting legislation that created the State Fire Service Standards and Training Committee. Though he stepped down as Chair in June 2000, he had been the Chairman of the Standards and Training Committee since being elected at its first meeting in 1995. Governor Guinn also appointed Chief Drew to the Nevada State Board of Fire Services where he served as chairman until 2004. In his current position as a Deputy Chief in charge of training, safety, and operations with the East Fork Fire and Paramedic Districts, Deputy Chief Drew has provided a comprehensive fire service-training program for a combination career/volunteer organization. The Districts have approximately 170 volunteers, 53 paid staff and members in 13 stations.
